Lillie used smarts and strategy to fight and pushed Gladion to his limit. And Gladion is the future champion so that means Lillie is a top tier trainer. Lana was just humiliated.

Move animations aren't even always consistent between games. In the anime different Pokemon can use what counts as the same moves differently too.

That's fine and dandy, but notice the "50 feet" part. It was never explained why just this once the sword turned gigantic and didn't even try to do it next battle.

Guzma didn't even need that to win as apparently Golisopod could have just shielded anyways, but they still made up a power just for the occasion.

Doubt it, honestly. Lana got shown to get raped by Guz and she got lucky because Mallow was chickening out. Kiawe also got trashed by Brock, so it's really closer to Ash > Kiawe > Sophocles >= Lana >= Mallow = Lillie

Lana didn't get lucky with Mallow, if anything Lana still gave Mallow a chance but she still couldn't do anything. Meanwhile Ash did get lucky vs Guzma because Golisopod decided to job out of nowhere. Also got a lucky break vs Decidueye.

Sophocles lost as soon as Kiawe decided to get serious so that doesn't indicate much.

Also Brock had a Mega. (Not sure why Brock is relevant anyways)

Mallow was tripping the fuck out, so Lana got an easy win right there. Sophocles is worse than Kiawe, and Kiawe battled Brock while Ash battled a Mega Gyarados as well. Ash succeeded, Kiawe didn't.

Ash > Kaki > Suiren > Mamane (his league showing puts him higher though and he's carried by Vikavolt) > Mao (she has a damn legendary though) >= Lillie

Kyogre still tested Lana's abilities even if it wasn't a battle and showed how far she and Primarina had gotten.
