People like to complain about friendly rivals and how they want jerk rivals back but there was even a "jerk rival archetype" in the first place? Blue who by some motive is considered the classic jerk rival was just cocky and competitive and he was even the protagonist's childhood friend. Silver was the only one who could be called a jerk rival but his rants are so ridiculous that it's hard to take him seriously. The gen 3's rival... wasn't really a rival and I think they meant for the rival to just be a ruse so that the "true rival" could take the player by surprise: Wally. Now tell me /vp/ why people are so obsessed with jerk rivals?
