Hi /vp/,

I'm in the rather odd position of not having played a generation II game. Is it up to snuff in your opinion? Or should I play the remakes? Avoid it altogether?

The remakes are the most based in the series.
Faithful, new features that don't ruin the experience, Pokemon walking behind you, etc.

HeartGold is objectively superior to Crystal in every conceivable aspect of the term 'superior.' the only complaint i had was that red swapped his espeon for a lapras, and that pisses me off to this very day.

The gen 4 remakes are the definitive experiences no question. Play those if you want to see Gen 2 at its best.

Is it as slow as D&P? That was my biggest objection to gen 4, everything felt like a slog.
