Not sure why I decided to head to Cinnabar after Silph Co. but I did.

Got and lost Ganymede pretty quickly, not too sad about it, since he was basically filler for my team, but I had forgotten about a Fly slave, so I caught Callisto. It all worked out.

Blaine was a joke thanks to Luna.

Evolutionary lines, IMO. I would, however, suggest if stay a dupe for that game or generation ONLY. That way, if something that you catch now and dies, but is a great performer in a later set of games, you can still use it later and ensure it's saved for that time.

I keep forgetting later gens have you add the box legendary to your party and faced Yveltal on a 5 mon party.
I figured I could go with the same rule I came up for BW1 to just use the legendary until it dies, but that pretty much only works on BW because N had the other box legendary to fight you with, that and Oblivion Wing is actually kind of really stupid. Normally I'd feel bad for using it, but just catching it was incredibly obnoxious and he would have swept my team just as hard Lysandre's if my Escavalier wasn't immune to crits

Well nevermind then, Cane Queen got fucking nuked out of this world as soon as I entered the Pokemansion. Since my team already has a lot of Fighting moves users, I'll postpone Machoke getting into the party. Thankfully I already have a Graveler so I was able to catch something else in the mansion.
Then a Claydol exploded into Soret. Didn't even bother to kill him too. Whatever, Afreaka is back.

Starting hoenn with a Treeko might unironically be the hardest fucking challenge i've faced up til now, save university. You have to play perfectly and you still will get fucked three ways over if you don't have something like a breloom against watson, and if you DO, that means you are rocking 2 grass types for the upcoming fire gym. I thought Gen 6 was supposed to make fighting types shit. Almost all of my deaths have been from these assholes with their notBerts and notErnies.

Lost my Flygon to one Sawk because lolsturdy on a fucking fighting type, and then it gets a crit Close Combat that kills it from full health. Then without Flygon the idiot brigade in route 19 was actually dangerous because I hadn't given Aegislash King's Shield yet and didn't want to risk her dying too

Pinwheel Forest in BW is an area with the completely different encounter tables for its "inside" portion and "outside" portion. Using the Pinwheel, you're allowed a catch from both areas rather than being forced to pick. This also applies to areas like SM's route 1, which has 3 totally different encounter tables (well actually it has four, but nobody counts the fourth)

While traversing Rock Tunnel, Banana the Fearow died to a fucking Slowpoke of all things, who was my answer to Erika's gym.

With him dead, I captured a Vulpix to just burn the gym instead. What I didn't count on is the stupid Gen 1 bind mechanics. Victreebel outsped Vulpix, and thus it was unable to attack it.

I tried switching to Kiwi to try and one shot it with Dig, but got one shot as it came out. Coconut and Lychee also got one shot, leaving me alone with Durian.

Durian only had Vine Whip however, and it only has 10PP, so then I had to spam every move, forever until I struggled my way to victory.

Found the lucky slot machine! Dratini came in clutch with the move coverage.

No badges were acquired yet, but Team Rocket has been kicked out of Celadon, Lavender, and Fuchsia.

Movepools are so shallow in Gen 1, but at least I just acquired the Earthquake, Psychic, Swords Dance TMs, and soon Surf.

I worry about the Green/Yellow runs however since I'm exhausting a lot of powerful encounters, I'll be left with shitmons.

the strongest physical move it learns in DPP by level is Crunch, and I think you can also breed Night Slash into it.

Buccellato comes out and kills Aggron and Armaldo with EQ, I swap him out for Devils Food for Cradily and OHKO it with Sky Uppercut after a Sludge Bomb. Finally, a Critical Flamethrower OHKOs Metagross, defeating Steven and nabbing the Champion spot. Tres Leche might have died, but he's still a champ.

Caught a Grape to complete my team! Hopefully nothing dies and these all become hall of famers.

Koga's gym was fairly easy, with Pear and Mandarin doing most of the work. They're super frail, but strong enough to one-shot most things.

With Durian finally learning Razor Leaf, he finally evolved. Now we only need Kumquat to reach that level 55. Probably won't until the League.

Alright, nobody with advice? Let's see, given that you are unnable to aquire a ground-type outside of marshtomp, my team against watson really only had a guaranteed chance against watson if at least three pokemon had access to rock smash. This pokemon can't be aron(gets one-shotted by shock wave), Loudred dies in two shock-waves so you can't switch him in(you HAVE to sacrifice both it and another pokemon before), and other mons with a nice niche are not guaranteed to come by. Shedinja is immune to everything except the voltorbs rollout, but I really don't like sending anything into that hand grenade. Besides, shedinja doesn't have anything that hits steel types, even neutral. Man, grass starter runs are if you don't teach your groovyle rock smash, rendering him useless.

Then there's the question of the 6th gym: I haven't even faced off against that altaria and it's already giving me nightmares, since I sort of have expended most pokemon that are common that can take a dragon dance boosted earthquake!

Sweet jesus, I have the potential to create a sandstorm based team in my nuzlocke and I think I am gonna do it. But this is locke is going swimmingly so far and I don't want to restart, but it would make it so fun! I have aron, cacnea, numel, the claw fossil and can pick up barboach. That's five really good pokemon i like. Bleh, there's no way they would survive anything after you leave for sootopolis! There's literally water everywhere and the elite-4 is like made to counter sandstorm and ground/rock/steel-rock-types!

At the start of the run I used an AR code to acquire all Pokewalker areas, then used a random number generator to pick 5 routes (Mine were Noisy Forest, Volcano Path, Sinnoh Field, White Lake and Stormy Beach for reference, number 2, 11, 14, 17 and 18 respectively)

Then when I do the actual catches I follow my standard Safari Zone rules; if I encounter something I haven't caught I have to try and catch it, dupes I can choose at the beginning of the battle if I want to skip or not, champs I have to skip, continue until I've caught something

Also, yeah my team looks balanced as shit. FWG core, all physical, from the first three catches? I've special-oriented fossil, which, mind you, is a designation only shared by Omastar. Floette, should it survive long enough to evolve (fuck yeah tanked Tyrunt's Rock Tomb with 1 HP to spare after an X Defense) will be tanky as shit from the special side and goes great with Quilladin. Helioptile will be good if it evolves but it's still pulling its weight fairly well.

Well, unfortunately for us, we've already filmed the elite four run for tomorrow, but without giving too much away... Some of that advice would have helped. I noticed our vulnerabilities as I was putting the team together, and I basically feel like I've got only one or two counters for each Elite Four member, and if something happens to the counters, each E4 member could run roughshod over us. I don't like Slam, but every time I go into my TMs I'm not impressed by what Smugleif seems to be able to learn. That being said, shadow claw gets play on Breaker.

Currently, no. It went for a Bulk Up and tried to Wild Charge my Galvantula [which tbf probably would've killed at the range he was in, if I hadn't healed] while my Weavile and Darmanitan picked it off with Feint Attack/Bulldoze.

Elite Four went well aside from a few close calls. As you can see, Khepri did a LOT of work.. Escavalier is quickly becoming one of my favorite mons to use. Kalma has also been an absolute mvp, and basically solo'd most of Marshal on his own by burning everything with Will-O.

Fuck Guzma and fuck his Golisopod. Really was banking on Kermit living a hit since he was my highest leveled Pokemon at the time and no one else could have lived either. Took it out in 2 Foul Plays from Loki but it still sucked. Also we got Poison Jab so Kens is usable now! Yay! Put Honeybee on the team because it was already a decent level and I have the whole Aether section ahead of me so I'll need all the help I can get. Lorelei the bitch is the one that gave me most trouble surprisingly, with Pineapple the Poliwrath missing two Submission and then hitting itself. R.I.P. sweet prince.

The rest were easy. Durian the Victreebel solo'd Bruno, earning his deserving place in the hall of fame after being the sole survivor against Erika, saving us from a game ending wipe.

Mandarin the Dugtrio destroyed Agatha's ghosts with a combo of Earthquakes and Digs.

Lance got solo'd by Kumquat the Dragonite by a combination of Ice Beams and Thunderbolts.

Kumquat then solo'd Blue as well, since they all were weak to its attacks, with the exception of Alakazam, Kumquat also took it down since it was the only one strong enough to take it down without dying.

All in all, pretty uneventful Elite Four outside of Pineapple's death. ;_;

As I was cruising through Viridian Forest I failed to realize I was running out of Tackle PP, while also having run out of Leech Seed PP.

So I remembered that Japanese Blue actually has a Mr. Mime for trade by the Diglett Cave, which works out great since Jigglypuff was easily encountered in Route 3, which had already exhausted all other encounters beside it.

With Marcel on the team, we went through Rock Tunnel, where Marcel accidentally killed my Ditto encounter. Later I captured a Growlithe, but he died to a Gastly shortly after.

Managed to catch Arkansas in the Tower, and with the newly acquired Flute I woke up Snorlax to get the Super Rod and catch Oregon. Also picked up Georgia and evolved her into Jolteon. Full team get!

The game really opens up after Surge, kinda freeing compared to future gens. Anyways, Erika was kind of a joke thanks to Marcel even if he was disobeying me a bit.

Time to grind up everyone to face what are in my opinion the toughest gym leaders Koga and Sabrina.

Team is coming along nicely, if no one dies, I should be able to have some good movesets through TMs. Arkansas can learn weird stuff like Fire Blast and Blizzard, which would cover its Fire and Flying weakness pretty handily.

Arkansas, actually, no one on my team can learn Rock Slide. I was surprised, since it can learn so many weird moves but not something that makes sense. Gen 1 is weird.

I was just mentioning it since Switch and Set are different playstyles in more than just difficulty; with Set coverage moves make sense since a lot of the time you don't really want to come in on an attack, but with Switch it makes more sense to specialize Pokémon with STABs and such.

I remember my Black blindlocke I somehow managed to make a dual SandRain team (The progression usually went Krookodile w/ Sstorm > Excadrill > Seismitoad w/ RDance > Whimsicott w/ Hurricane > Samurott) by the end. In general its a great feeling managing to get good synergy from the limited options nuzlockes give you.

Sidenote: I know I keep mentioning but man, how in the fuck aren't Yellow's levels mentioned more often. My four runs are generally balanced with each other in terms of levels yet Yellow's the only one where I'm getting outpaced by the level curve by almost 10 levels now.

Pokemon Yellow has some great early game encounters. Took me 4 badges to be able to catch 2 mons in the last game, but here I already have 4 by the second badge.

Mt. Moon was surprisingly hard with this team, but at least there was no stupid Raticate to kill off my team like in previous games.

Jack's usefulness ends here IMO, he won't get too many good matchups from here on, might try to catch a Magnemite or Electabuzz.

I got greedy/annoyed and just wanted to reach Vermillion without heading back to heal in Cerulean when I suddenly encountered this fucking trainer with 2 stupid Pidgeys. Not a big deal right? Well these fuckers would not stop using Sand-Attack, making Jack and King miss literally all their attacks. Wendy was too weak and died to a Quick Attack crit, and while Whatabu managed to kill the first Pidgey, it succumbed to the second.

I used the randomizer until I got something I hadn't used yet, which turned out to be Koffing. Here we go again...

Storm Badge gotten, once again with help from the wonderful Togami, got a little scare when Primeape used Rock Slide, but it only did about 40% HP and after that Poliwrath posed little problem, failing to proc a Paralysis on Body Slam and then opting to use Focus Punch twice while Togami Extrasensory'd it to death. Things are going okay so far. I boxed Duskull for now to get Phantump to help with Roxanne. She also evolves at 23. I'll probably bring Duskull back further in when I can evolve him.

Down side... my fire weakness is as terrible as ever ;-; Mudkip would've been solid, but he was a former champion, and all previous champs+deceased mons are considered dupes for me [thus, I was stuck with Torchic.]

At least Hoenn is literally full of water. Hopefully I can rework my team later down the line to compensate for that weakness.

First death of the leg.. holy fuck Brawly was terrifying??? I wasn't expecting a fucking Bulk Up Hariyama at this stage of the game lmao. Literally the only reason I got through it without more deaths was that Myrtle did enough damage before dying to let Riolu come in, BARELY live a +3 or +4 Bullet Punch, and kill it with Counter.. if it'd gone for arm thrust I'd probably have wiped entirely.

Alright, wattsons finished. My Groovyle will basically be put on the bench until I get giga drain, and I will focus on training my team to take on Norman. My team, as it stands, untrained, with every route-pokemon caught is breloom, zubat, tentacool, numel, and grovyle with some filler. When I get surf the world will open up so much, since you technically don't need to fight winona until you enter the E4 and realize that, whoops, you are missing a badge. Unfortunately, I still have to follow the level cap-rule, so no such tomfoolery. But I really enjoy how open your journey can become after the 5th gym. Hoenn might have the most open 2nd half of all the games, discounting glitches.

Team was reworked a bit. I dropped Karrablast for Corsola bc I really needed a water type [and it got nice buffs.. 75/105/105 bulk with regenerator was nice. Also 85 spatk is usable too] and brought Floette on since Phantump died and I'm not far enough to evolve Duskull yet.

Alright we're back on track despite losing the save. I decided to keep Chifilla dead despite it still being alive at the time I had last saved, it just seemed fair that way.

Went for Blaine first, since Sabrina's Alakazam is level 50 in Yellow and I didn't want to go in with low level mons.

Also added a Flareon to the team, for reasons. I don't think I'll miss it in future gens, and it kinda works to counter Grass/Ice types. Meh.

Oh boy, Aether Paradise sure was fun! Honestly wasn't too bad until the end - I got through the Guzma fight with no fatalities, and Loki made short work of Golisopod again, with Andromeda and Earfquake taking care of the rest. But Lusamine... didn't go as well. She wore down my team and switched way more than any NPC should be able to, until my team was all fucked up and Milotic was her last Pokemon. I was convinced Kens could live whatever she threw at me so I took a turn to heal Eleven. Kens died so his comrades could live - one healspam and three Magical Leafs later, Milotic went down.
Open to suggestions on what the new team member should be, I have Cha there just to have something, but if you guys have a better idea I'm willing to hear it. Also I'm not doing an Autismlocke so Eevee can evolve into whatever.

Holy shit that was so close...

Lorelei was pretty easy, except Buffalo who died in one hit. I think I've lost at least one mon to Lorelei per run somehow. I always thought she was the easiest in the past, guess not.

Lance was actually a lot of trouble since the only super effective move was on Church, and two of his mon have Electric moves. Lost Popeye and Raising to his dragons.

With only Winspot, Church, and Kayefsee I ventured into the last room.

Church one shot Sandslash, while Kayefsee had a long duel against Blue's Alakazam and came out victorious.
Winstop then one shot Exeggutor, and then had a long duel with Ninetales. After nearly one-shotting Magneton, Winstop got crit and died to a Thunderbolt by it.
Kayefsee then finished it, but got nearly killed by Vaporeon, who eventually died to a Hyper Beam by Church with 10 HP left.

Oof, real close to wiping there boys. Now I move onto gen 2.

Head to Dark Cave to get a Geodude, if you get a Zubat, you still have Union Cave and the route above the first one. You'd have to have real shit luck to not get a Geodude.

The rocky dude is great for the first three gyms, being able to even solo them easily.

Finally finished up my Touhou Puppet Dance Performance: Shard of Dreams nuzlocke. It was a brutal champion fight but we managed to hold on with no casualties by the skin of our teeth.
If you haven't played PDP:SoD then I highly, highly recommend doing so. It's easily the best Pokemon game I've ever played including the actual mainline Pokemon games. You don't have to know fucking anything about touhou to play it.
You can pick any mon in the game to be your starter and every single mon is viable in some way thanks to each one having 3 unique evolution paths.

For example: I had a victreebell alive in my win against champion blue in pokemon blue version. Now I am no longer allowed to use a Victreebell in my upcoming red --> yellow --> gold --> silver --> crystal --> sapphire --> ruby --> etc. The difficulty ramps up as the mons you could usually use in a run are suddenly unavailable. This sort of produces a colloseum effect where you are using mons you've previously never even given the thought, like mantine or chincino.

Basically you nuzlocke the entire series, the autism being in having the patience and drive to run the practically the same game 2 to 6 times (depending on versions and remakes). Most common additional rule is that you're not allowed to use any Pokémon that've either survived or at least made it to the E4 before (i.e. Champions).

You could go a step beyond and do like I do and make it so you're not allowed to repeat Pokémon period, but that's when it starts getting more heavily into strategy and planning than with normal runs.

So, i had beaten flannery and unfortunately lost my breloom in the process, but since I had already caught another fighting-type in Machop and were going to abandon breloom anyway, I was pretty calm. Just so I could securely enter the mid-game I decided to EV train the machop into a level 32 adamant giganigger Machoke. This went swimmingly! I faced of against Norman and he killed me in one hit with a critical hit facade. He then proceeded to shove his gigantic gorilla fist up my Groovyles anus and use him as a boxing glove against my Golbat, who was still slower, probably because the shock of seeing his partner being turned into a sock puppet, missed the confuse ray, and got dabbed on.

I didn't really think I could experience this level of apathy. I am not even mad. I am impressed. Before I started the fight against norman I literally thought to myself: "The only way I can lose is if the first attack crits". Now I have restarted again. Hopefully my breloom will survive until the 5th gym this time, as it's mach punch had been invaluable.

So last week I failed my challenge against Skyla, and I got fairly upset and didn't post any updates except for crying about Sigilyph.
