Just fucking imagine if you want to fucking level your shitmon you catched 10 level lower than your mons. Basically walk 10 min find pokemon battle repeat for 2 hours until you get a level up.

Would it be cool to see pokemon in their natural habitat? Sure but also extremly stupid. How do you wanna do this for like 300 pokemon, while still beeing unique, rare and having it on more than just one place. How will you feel if you see some shitty ponytas running away from you and you catch one of them like you know kidnaping it.

A snap game in that format? Fuck yeah. An actual main series jrpg? No fuck off.

you realise you could still have random encounters as well as wild pokemon running/swimming around too? which is exactly what we're getting with SwSh. not every encounter needs to be special but it'd be nice to walk into a cave and see a some pokemon scuttle up the walls into a hole and occasionally poke their head out giving you an opportunity to catch them as well as running into 2000 random zubat encounters.

Game Freak has been using their own in-house engine for so long they'd probably have absolutely no idea on how to use one that's not theirs. A smarter option would be to license out spinoffs to other devs but they're probably afraid of being shown up like how Obsidian did Bethesda with New Vegas.

The real answer is that why the fuck would they even want to? That would just be asinine.

Engine maybe although it would be trash but graphics is just completely stupid. Why would they give up their identity like that? It's like asking why Odyssey didn't use the BotW music.

The answer being that's not the Mario genre or composition type. No one wants either of those things.

In all honesty, it’s time. Laziness and talentlessness of GF aside, BotW took seven fucking years to make. It was delayed like five times. It was a massive undertaking that revolutionized the Zelda series precisely because it was given that much time.

Both The Pokémon Company and Game Freak are to blame. TPC having to shit out mass media products of the brand alongside the games limits their potential and GF's cutscene focused, lack of feature-returning mentality makes no sense. Pokémon would only get advantages from a work like BOTW style, because it is actually based with that purpose, a trainer exploring a world to capture creatures in many types of enviroments:
Cities, forests, paths, caves, sea, etc...

Just give it time, maybe one day it'll happen, maybe...

you might still have to do that. there's 500+ pokemon in SwSh so those tall grass patches are gonna be pretty spread out. just imagine how beautifully lifeless and dead behind the eyes that pidgey will look when you finally catch it though. if you're lucky it might flap its wings for a second when you find it and trick you into thinking you're in an immersive world for a moment.

Namely that BOTW's engine was a fucking mess because they had to rush it out before the end of the wiiu's life, then change gears and try to do something with the new system by the time it released instead. So the performance is really bad and falling just short of 30FPS no matter how close immediately drops you to 20FPS because of their fucked up vsync solution, the draw distance is really bad, and the pop-in equivalent is so bad that basically nothing exists more than ten character widths away from you and enemies and animals moving away from you will vanish into the ether before your very eyes.
The engine is good at one thing (that being "actually having a physics engine on mobile hardware") and it's something that would only serve to the detriment of a turn-based RPG like Pokemon.

See, there we go with the "BOTW style" stuff. Consider that even BOTW only accomplished various biomes of rolling plains, jungle plateaus, and small structures (in varying densities) pasted onto them. The closest thing to involved structures are those completely out of place and terrible heightmap mazes.

If GameFreak is considered to do good jobs, you don't want to change the developer and risking losing the magic, consumers could dislike the new product.

What happens if games sell a lot despite consumers not liking the new products? That consumers are addicted to the image of what pokémon should be, not what it is. So they keep buying it and disliking it, yet the shareholders think GameFreak is in touch with them.

Just boycott the damm games for at least 3 months so shareholders take immediate action. You can wait 3 months right anon?

All creature assets taken 1:1 from USUM (or similar 3ds games. Just use the gen1+2 250 mon, and devote the time TO ACTUALLY IMPROVING ANIMATIONS with the mon art budget.
