I don't actually understand this. Do a lot of people actually like Gen 4 music? Maybe it's just my tastes are not for it, but these were the type of music that would put me to sleep. Just trying to understand the appeal of Gen 4's music and not trying to derail the thread or anything, as to me, there's a lot of nice things about Gen 4, but the music wasn't it.

Gen 4 in my opinion is when the battle themes started taking a turn for the worse. The route themes were probably the more interesting parts of the soundtrack for me though Gen 2 and 3 are still my favorites in that aspect.

I personally think DPPt has my least favorite. Doesn't mean there's no fantastic tracks in there, but less so than other gens. I think it's mostly personal tastes, I think the soundfont sounds pretty cheap (it got improved upon a lot in HG/SS) and some of the compositions sound kinda "basic" for lack of a better term.

Mt. Coronet is still fucking A+ 10/10 tho

if by "gen 4" you mean HG/SS, it's a good contender. If you mean sinnoh you are a fucking moron, gen 4's soundtrack is shit barring a couple battle themes. It doesn't help that the soundfront was attrocious either

THis i can get behind. Fuck OP. The drums are nice, it it take a minute to build to nothing because it can't have a drop without defeating the point of the track. Not DPPt's best. It's good in-game. I wouldn't listen to it around the house.

I miss when finding a legendary in the overworld felt like an accident, without a cutscene it felt much more surreal. Don't mind it when they foreshadow the encounter, but I would enjoy more surprises in future pokemon games, not that I'll play them, given how the pokemon franchise has deteriorated.
