>>39975134Yeah, Gen 6 and 7 both had very enjoyable hype cycles. Gen 6 got everyone excited with the move to 3D and the concept of Mega Evolutions was crazy at the time. ORAS kept interest up beyond just the idea of a Hoenn remake with new Megas. As for Sun and Moon, I think it was even better than XY in that regard. The leaks actually added to the hype, since they were either cryptic or were only partially correct (remember Z forms and the cat who changed types by breeding?). Like Megas, Alolan forms got people thinking of potential new forms and got loads of speculative fanart. There was also a ton of lore speculation and theories with the legends, the Marshadow trademark, and especially the Ultra Beasts. I actually think the decline in hype started with USUM. I guess we expected more, since the idea of a regular third version(s) didn't excite people one bit. Speculation died down and "wow, it's fucking nothing!" pretty much dominated the discussion. There was some talk about what Necrozma would become, but that was it. Let's Go dropped even further, as not only was it in place of the "first console core Pokemon game", but it seemed to be a stripped-down version of Red / Blue. There was nothing really to talk about since there weren't any significant story or content changes and no new forms. Now we're at the release of a new gen, and there's so little discussion or hype. The national dex issue really dampened people's excitement about this game and arguments about quality dominate the entire discussion. People don't really care about Dynamax/Gigantamax either compared to Megas or alolan forms when they were first revealed.
