They don't. They revealed in Sept. because of the October release in 2013, but they got revealed at the start of October for SM with its November release.
Start of next month is when they'll be shown off and you're a retard for not being able to read the signs yourself and rely on pricks driven by clicks.

Starter evolutions have been inconsistent as all hell.
Gen 1: Revealed alongside everything else since they were the first games
Gen 2: Not revealed until release
Gen 3: Only Blaziken, and that was about 3 months before RS came out due to the anime
The others - not revealed until release
Gen 4: Not revealed until release
Gen 5: Servine, Pignite, and Dewott officially revealed in the September CC issue a few days before BW were released.
Gen 6: Quilladin, Braixen, and Frogadier officially revealed in the September CC issue a month before XY were released
Gen 7: Second stage starters officially revealed in early October, a month and a half before SM were released. The final stages were officially revealed in late October, 3 weeks before SM were released.

The pattern has been inconsistent, but we're likely to get at least the second stages in October. Not sure if we'll get a full reveal of the final stages before release again.

Why are people obsessed with the graphics argument anyway? They said pretty clearly their reason for the dex cut was for "balance", which is still a bs excuse yet no one ever bitches about it.
Reusing animation is normal. The entire smash cast reuses animations and has a fraction of the characters a pokemon game has.

People are obsessed with the graphics because for the e3 presentation, they said specifically they were cutting pokemon for "more expressive animations with old pokemon" on each pokemon. Not a single new animation has been found for older pokemon, meaning that this was a total lie.
Also, that whole thing about smash is false equivalence: smash characters are already fully animated for their moveset. It's not like they have a universal animation for a move that many fighters share, unlike pokemon. They reuse animations because it's literally all there already. The same cannot be said about pokemon.

I don't recall that. Have a transcript? I remember they said they could make the pokemon more expressive because the Switch is less shit. But they never gave a reason until after the presentation in an interview, where they said their main reason was for balancing and because there are too many pokemon.
The animations are just reused from the previous game, exactly like Smash did. Many characters use the same animations as others, either as clones or close to it. Or like seven characters all sharing zss' dair. I think Banjo has Ganondorf's up tilt even. Everyone knows they reuse animations and don't care. Only this community freaks out over it.

Sharing moves != sharing animations. You can't just port an animation over to another character and expect it to work. There'd be a lot more clipping otherwise. Each character has their own custom animations, even if they share similar moves.

They didn't specifically mention animation, but that is basically the only way to make pokemon more expressive in-game as they don't talk and the graphical improvements are mostly textures and shaders rather than more detailed models. First they brought up Masuda having something he wanted to say before they wrapped up, then the stuff about the expressiveness and then they talked about wanting to balance the game and there being a lot of pokemon, and from there they lead into the dex cut. Basically they front-loaded the reasoning trying to soften the blow, and have yet to show us anything that backs it up.
