Fair, it doesn't get as much mileage as pokemon. But therein lies the beauty of it.

They continue to make new content, as well as content made for adult audiences (Digimon Tri, Digimon survive) instead of continually pandering to children and following a formula.

Digimon, digital monsters, is more organic than pokemon.

Even in the Digimon fandom there is a split between JRPG Dungeon crawling and Pet raising. Comparing Digimon to Pokemon is just wrong. The only reason why Pokemon got the hot lead was because they A) Teamed up with Nintendo and B) Was not as complicated as Digimon. I love digimon, always will, but Pokemon is big enough to leave older fans and attract newer, younger ones. Digimon will probably be a nostalgia for a bit longer till they nail it down. They are getting there and I think we will be seeing a lot more JRPG Dungeon crawlers from them than pet raising ones.

digimon is the male version of tamogatchi, not a pokemon ripoff. having "mon" at the end does not make one a bootleg of the other, and aside from the presence of "evolution" being in both franchises there are very few things linking them together.

Gamefreak puts in nearly no effort and makes passable games that haven't evolved in fucking 20 years, while Bamco continuously tries new things but they just aren't very good at it.

Digimon 01 and Tamers are LEAGUES above anything Pokemon's ever shit out, but nothing Pokemon's done has ever come close to the fucking trash fire that is Savers and Fusion. Digimon anime also hasn't been good since Tamers, so until they come up with something better in the last 15 years, Pokemon's doing better there too.

Sucks bad, I fucking love Digimon, but unless Survive is amazing it's just going to fall by the wayside again, and deservedly so.

What Digimon game would you say is better than HeartGold? Platinum?

Fuck it, which Digimon game do you think is better than Explorer of Sky?

I fucking love Dawn and Re: Digitize, but none of their core gameplay loops are as engaging as Pokemon, and their post-games are always... well, shit, to put it nicely.

I wouldn't rate any Digimon game that I've played (Which, admittedly, isn't all of them) above the better main series Pokemon games.

Haven't played Explorers of Sky, but I've played Explorers of Time/Darkness & I'd give Cyber Sleuth the edge over them just because I tend to reach a point in every Mystery Dungeon game where I start to find it tedious.

I'm not arguing that Digimon or Pokemon is "better" (I love both), I just think using fucking review scores as any sort of metric is laughable.
