What did you like about gen 7?

I love how it actually felt modern. Loved the upscaled trainer models. Alolan forms was dope nothing like that has been done before in Pokemon. Your rival literally has a legendary as his main. Team skull was dope and I enjoyed the aether foundation!

A lot of the characters were shit, but I absolutely loved Hapu. She was given proper character development without the game being too pretentious about it, she pops up every now and then instead of in every town you show up in, and there's something so oddly satisfying to see her reach the goal she's worked on for years in legacy of her deceased granddad. Oh, and she uses one of my favorite types.
Seriously, Hapu could've made a fantastic Rival. But she is good as an Island Kahuna as well.

Abolishing HM Slavery will forever be the best thing Gen 7 ever did.

Team Skull was great. I liked most of the new Pokémon introduced. Taking a break from the tradition of gym leaders was refreshing, I liked the trial and totems concept. I liked the Ultra Beasts and some of the legendaries. Uhhhh, some of the character designs are good.

I hated Gens 6 and 7 but thought they had some of the best pokemon designs. Playing through platinum I realize how much I'm bored of old designs

I liked the the non-grid 3-D environments and music. Felt like a big upgrade from XY's presentation.
Poke' Pelago was neat with the various things you could have your poke'mon do while you're off doing something else(berry tending, collecting rare stone, nuggets, and fossils, chilling out in a hot spring,)
Salandit, Lurantis, Lunala, Trumbeak, and Vikavolt were my favorites of the new poke'mon.

I liked that it had all the Pokémon. I don’t care about dex entries but at least they were usable.
Also I really liked regional forms breathing new life into old unusable mons like Muk and Persian.

quality of life like removing all the unnecessary shit from the PC and HM removal.
new pokemon designs are really good, probably my favorite behind gen 1,2 and tied with gen 5
regional forms are a good concept

ub lets gamefream break the typical pokemon designa and allow for more freedom which is something i appreciate
the story im kind of so so about because i think sm had potential to be good if they didnt shove lillie in your face every 2 seconds, or at least let you play as her since it feels more like her story
usm story is ass though and i wish it didnt exist

i think as time goes on my opinions on sm are more positive since at launch it felt like a weird blend of good and shit ideas

Pokémon Design is mostly pretty neat. The starters, Togedemaru, rodent & bird line are horrendous, maybe Crabominable who I never found that offensive, but everything else ranges from decent to good to me.
There was also a decent effort made to make each Pokémon somewhat unique. Look at every Alolan Pokémon and you'll see a signature move or ability. It doesn't always work and it should be expanded upon but it's a step forward.
Strictly talking about USUM, story for it & SM is shit but Necrozma almost saves it. I don't know why GF sticks to their shit narratives & words words words when the few half assed Necrozma cutscenes showed more antagonism & threat emaning from him than the entirety of Team Aether or just most teams for that matter.
