I know I can’t be the only one who feels so dissatisfied with this. It’s like, I’m happy deep down that he finally pulled it off but at the same time this just wasn’t the League where it should’ve happened, at least happen first anyways.
In Sinnoh Ash fought every member of the Elite Four, had a strong relationship with the Champion, was up against his greatest rival, and brought back his old Pokémon. His opponent in the end were Legendary Pokémon.
In Kalos he fought against Legendaries and Mega Evolutions regularly. He fought toe to toe with the Champion, and it was the first time he ever made it to the finals with one of his strongest teams to date.
Here it’s just..meh. He hasn’t done anything significant that’s a testament to his skill. He fought in a League where inexperienced trainers, literal beginners, cheaters, and his team is probably the most inexperienced he’s had since the Kanto region. And no older characters are here to watch. You’d think Brock, Misty, or even Gary would be here but it’s just his mom and Oak who admitted he really came to see Meltan who evolved, and then lost its first battle afterwards..
I mean, congratulations I guess but damn this was not how I thought I would feel.
