The thing I hated the most was needing rock smash. The move is way to weak to make it a requirement to finish victory road in gen 3 and 4. At least make it 60 base power or something, 20 is fucking pathetic.

Gen 4's biggest weakness is the HM reliance. It's obnoxious. Makes the Coronet climb a fucking chore. But they're great games otherwise.

Are HMs really that bad in HGSS?
I don't remember anything like the "need to use each HM once and only once per cave" that DPPt loved pulling on you.

HGSS and RSE have the same problem- THREE FUCKING WATER HMs. And with the phys/spec split, one of them is guaranteed useless.
