>>40000604I dunno about that. For what it lacks in polish, it makes up for in ease of play. The nature of gen 1 allows you to pick up and play it very readily and the world design is fairly open in the mid-game, allowing you to tackle gyms in different orders and explore at your pace to an extent, which is something gradually more absent from gens 5-7, especially 7, which basically drags you kicking and screaming through the plot.
That said, FRLG is basically the same game but with more menu system conveniences and more content outright. So which you prefer in that case depends on whether or not the trumpets ruin that greater degree of modern convenience for you.
