I find it increasingly hilarious that to survive a nuzlocke with Treeko, I had to box treeko. But now I am going to get access to some nice moves for him. Need some advice for my new members. Norman's coming up and he's fucking terrifying.

I'm thinking maybe Dusclops could help with immunity and will-o-wisps.. and also considering boxing Sawsbuck for Ferrothorn since it's better bulk and typing.

Unsure for a final member though.. Magcargo got some nice buffs [80/120/110 bulk, solid rock, and 115 spatk] but my fighting and ground weakness is big yikes.

Can't go wrong with Honedge,I think. I don't know what changed in this romhack but normally Dusclops /noir normally have bad HP and only a 60 BP STAB... other stuf you could try are Dragalge and Scrafty. If you're afraid of ground and fighting Heracross will patch that up without sharing weaknesses with Lucario,

Gonna follow up on this: Pokemoner [the site] is pretty well-maintained as far as pre-patched romhacks go. Been getting my roms there for awhile now.

He uploads and updates stuff pretty regularly, and I can't stress how much it helps with 3ds romhacks, which can be a pain to prep for Citra without cfw. Pretty reliable for those who can't patch their own roms [mobile] or just to simplify the process.

Yeah aegislash is a damn good pokemon being able to pivot with 150 def and spdef and 150 atk and spa base if slower which is phenomenal furthermore I doubt the AI is smart enough to dodge kings shield so you have a good chance of scouting potential threat/problem moves.
But then the big problem becomes being insanely fire weak and honestly you need to take one of your fire resists you really might want to consider swapping it for torchic though then you become ground weak though then your water types are kind of shit and skrelp becomes ground weak.
Honestly you are kind of in a shit dilemna right now since you have a bunch of cool steel types but your ground/fire resists just aren't that good, though I guess honchcrow is a cool option as a ground immune but then edgequake coverage is common.

I mean garchomp is damn good and great fire resist, the problem is you are right at that level where gabite is a little fucker that can't do very much. Honestly as soon as you get around that 48 range you need to really consider dropping someone for a garchomp.

Though I think eventually you need to go for more of a full rebuild and you can end up with something like the image attached though idk if drayano has changed mega stone locations .

-Boxing Sneasel bc he's really fragile and I don't get the evo item til Lilycove, and also Honchkrow gives me a ground immunity and a flying check.
-Boxed Sawsbuck for Ferrothorn bc better bulk and defensive typing.
-Brought on Misdreavus for a fighting+normal immunity, another ground immunity, and its fairy typing helps a bit with potential dragons ig.
-Brought on Skrelp because.. I'm not sure lol. Special bulk I guess, another fighting resist. Idk what else to do for that slot.

As far as mega stones go, he made a good chunk of them buyable based on gym badges. I can get Lucarionite after 6, and garchomp stone after 7. Torchic was my starter so I think I get the mega stone for that naturally. Heracross stone is where it was in vanilla.

Whelp, I got 16 badges now. I trained this fucking Kangaskhan from a baby all the way to 49 only to die to fucking Blue. Now I gotta take Ursaring against Red instead.

I decided that the Hall of Fame mons will be the "Champions" for Autismlocke purposes, meaning they can never be used again. I will however continue the run all the way to Red, so if something dies, it will stay dead throughout the rest of Gen 2 as per rule 5. Meaning extra limitations on Silver and Crystal.

Time to grind a shit ton for the final fight.

So.. I have a side project going on with two friends that's essentially a 3-way BW2 soul link, with basic randomizations [wilds, trainers, items, tm's and abilities for flavor].

so uh.. I've had a Vigoroth for quite some time. Finally evolved it. And.. I think I broke the game, guys.

The worst part is I gave a friend the randomization log and he's know this would come into being FOR OVER A MONTH [we went on hiatus for a bit] and never even hinted at it lmfao. I knew he leads with Clawitzer, so I lead with Magneton on the idea I'd take one Aura Sphere and then strike back, but no, he was slower and didn't get to do anything. I did end up taking one EQ from Gyarados, but I live it and OHKO with thunderbolt. Machamp and Escavalier clean up the rest no problem

I kept Magneton in front, he started setting up spikes, but I got Discharge to paralyze and get the hax the next turn so no prankster shenanigans for you. I got the paralysis again on Probo AND got the hax to boot so I got a free shot on him, shrugged off his Earth Power, and got the kill on the third turn. I find it funny that, for how good of an Atk stat Machamp has, the best use I got from mine was... 100% accurate Fire Blasts, as I got a OHKO on Scizor with it. I went into a staring contest of sorts between his Aegislash and mine to then safely switch in Escavalier to finish him.

I lead with Machamp on her Dragalge and dispatched of it with EQ. I switched Magneton on Altaria's Moonblast, Sing misses and I get Discharge paralysis again to comfortably 2 shot it, I take a shot at Noivern and, yet again, get the Discharge paralysis and 2 shot it as well.

Oh boy, Magneton almost deleted Diantha by himself. I did some shuffling on Gourgeist because of her ToT/Phantom Force combo and (un)fortunately got the kill with Escavalier, which meant Gardevoir would trace his battle armor. I had to switch him out, and surprise, Magneton could actually give her a fight, but had to switch him out too after she got the Sp. Def drop from Shadow Ball. But one Shadow Sneak from Aegislash and that was a 6-0.

Looking pretty solid. Never had the chance to do challenge mode because of Gamefreak's stupid methods, but yeah. I've never used a Leavanny in all honesty. The one time I got Sewaddle at a good time it died quickly, the rest of the time I don't get it until Lostlorn Forest, by which point I already have a Grass or Bug type. Or both.

You're at the point where the game goes to hell though. I find BW2's lategame really hard compared to most others, though XY without Exp Share or USUM are rough later on as well.

Yeah. Hidden Power works before DP as whatever type it acts as. Bug, as a physical damager, will mean a Physical HP.

For example, take Smogon's SD Pinsir set from GSC:

Thanks! Here's a tip for you. If you want to get the casino-tms in mauville(ruby/sapphire/emerald) early, there are grimers in the Mt Chimney cave that have a high chance of holding nuggets that you can sell. Most people wont use their Thief-tm outside of competitive but I found it very useful in this case.

Thief is also very useful for getting a Steelix in Johto before defeating the E4, usually the only Metal Coat you get is post-game, but you can also steal one off of wild Magnemite. It's tedious, but god is it worth it

Back on track, this time it was Heracules' turn to solo a gym, still can't believe it gets Brick Break and Aerial Ace as levelup moves, and both before even hitting level 20 (although Megahorn is locked behind the lofty level of 55, a darn shame)

Well, I'm not sure who I'd really switch out from the team, I feel like I've already got a good core going. Besides, I really dislike Grass as an attacking type, as it's only effective against Water and Rock/Ground, both which can easily be taken care of by other types like Electric and Water respectively, and it's resisted by a whopping 7 types which isn't great
It sucks cuz I do like a lot of Grass types, and there are a lot of great Grass types (like Tangrowth) but I just can't justify a place on my team when I have so many other, better options

As far as Fire goes, I've got Togami for that, he doesn't get STAB, but it works

My first Pokemon, Fersen, died and I thought a bunch about what I should replace it with, and if I should remodel my team completely, but I ended up on deciding to just pull out my Eevee and making it an Umbreon. I might completely rehash my team later but I think my team is fairly reliable now.
Umbreon has great defenses but doesn't really learn moves that boost its defense, so what I decided to do is to try to make in more of an Evasive tank. I hope this will work.
I EV trained it for defense and got it the moves:
Moonlight
Double Team
Protect
Foul Play
The whole thing took hours and would've taken days if I couldn't speed the thing up on my emulator, so needless to say I'm going to take a break now.

Actually the only reason I'm able to do challenge mode is because I'm playing on an emulator. The methods for unlocking challenge mode on the actual copy are really ridiculous.
Leavanny is one of those Pokemon that's really great to have in the midgame, because it evolves so early and has pretty decent attack and speed, but ends up dying before lategame.

A vast majority of romhacks and fangames are designed purposely to be harder than vanilla. I can't think of any off the top of my head that change up the game without making things notably harder..

Gaia, maybe? I've never finished it but I remember having a fun team about halfway through, and I don't think it was Dray-levels of difficulty..

You could also try randomizers with the similar-strength setting, perhaps. Those tend to give decent variance without being overly difficult, aside from the "you never know what the opp will have" factor.

Vast Poni Canyon was shorter than I remember, one-shot Totem Kommo-o with Honeybee, and beat Lusamine again with no casualties. Final fights with Gladion and Hau are coming up but I'm not too worried. Level limit is 58 for Kukui's ace but I honestly don't think I need to get everyone that high.

Not totally happy with how this went down, Narancia could've been an amazing team member.
I think I could've won without losing anyone, but I'd spent so much time preparing I thought I'd just have to go for it at some point. So I did go for it, and Narancia was absolutely great in that battle even though he died. He maybe even dealt most of the damage in that fight all by himself, but then got Dragon Pulse'd.
Well at least I can move on now.

The first three gyms were fairly easy. Falkner as always was a total joke, Bugsy was easily defeated by a flurry of pecks from Almond, while Macadamia took down Whitney's cow with some kicks.

I thought nothing could go wrong since that went so smoothly when BANG! A fucking Raticate killed my Hazelnut.

Despite losing one of my fave mons I kept going and managed to grind without any more losses. I leveled up Cashew to his ace's level with the intent of resisting his punches through its bulk, and then ending Poliwrath with Razor Leaf. Solid plan, right?

Well the plan did work, with Cashew 2v1 Chuck's Pokemon. The problem was that one Hitmonlee trainer at the entrance of the gym, I lost two mons to it somehow. It's always the ones you least expect ;_;

Here we go boys, all badges collected.

I had a little accident while retaking Goldenrod from Team Rocket. Some Grunt with a high level Golbat managed to take down Peanut and Macadamia. Sad that I won't get to use OP Nidoking in Gen 1/2 now.

Later while grinding a bit before Clair, I somehow forgot Geodudes could also explode. I thought it was only Gravelers, and thus Coconut died.

Other than those randomass deaths, everything seems okay. I'll just need to find a sixth member for my team so I'm ready for the E4.

Against all odds, a team I would have never, ever considered using in a regular run, full of mons I would've rather saved for future gens due to cross-gen evolutions, or just overall "shitmons," has taken the win over the Elite Four and Lance. No losses either.

Cocoa especially was MVP in my opinion. Coming out of nowhere to fill out the dreaded sixth spot of my team (dreaded because its usually a last minute addition who dies to like the first Elite Four member). Its versatility thanks to the elemental punches made him extremely useful to all of the E4 members, and especially Lance.

Red better watch out, because this team is hungry.

Compared to Gold, this run went super well, with less than half the deaths.

Red was not easy per se, but I did only lose Cashew to it. I didn't have a real answer for Snorlax other than Beech tanking its hits, but an unfortunate crit made me retire Beech early. Cashew was its only victim.

So what is this Gaia you mentioned. The thought of a blind nuzloke sounds exciting but I don't really want to buy sun/moon or sword/shield for that when I could just play a romhack and probably get a better story than what modern gamefreak has

This run has gone all kinds of wrong.

First, I lost my starter to a fucking Geodude of all things who survived my attack and then crit me.

With no clear answer for Bugsy, I devised the plan of setting up Defense Curl on Phanpy to resist Scyther, and then pummel him to death with Tackle.

I didn't expect my tackles to do so little damage however, and Scyther sweeped my whole team.

Thankfully I had Trist the Sentret in the PC, and went around three places I had not caught anything in yet to try to rebuild the team and take on Bugsy again. Doesn't look too promising, and I really wanted a Teddiursa in Dark Cave, but alas, Growlithe might do the trick.

Bugsy was swiftly taken down by Sivir who burnt him to crisps.

Team has been rebuilt and thanks to the Department Store they got some okay movesets, I just need more money to keep buying TMs.

Whitney was easily beaten by Kog'Maw, whose Glare + Defense Curl let it set up against Clefairy, only to then Rollout on it, and one shot Miltank.

Who would've thought a Dunsparce would become my Ace in a nuzlocke.

I had two unfortunate accidents during this part. Nautilus died to a crit from Chuck's Poliwrath, while Udyr died from another crit from Jasmine's Magnemite.

Thankfully I had a replacement for Nautilus, since Water types are so easily available, but I'll have to find a 6th member soon.

Make sure you don't play "Green" though, which is just Blue, but instead get Japanese Blue, which is different from Red/Blue/Yellow.

The Elite Four went okay, Trist unfortunately died to Koga's team while digging them to death. I'm genuinely surprised a "route 1 shitmon" survived to see the hall of fame. Real bro, he was the only Pokemon I had after I wiped to Bugsy, and had it not been for her I would've lost this run. Respect.

Lux was probably MVP overall, taking on Will and Karen mostly on her own.

Lance was a bit rough, Fizz was too weak to take on all the dragons and eventually died, leaving Kha'Zix to take on the rest. I set up with Swords Dance and one shot the Dragonites with Slash. I thought I would outspeed Charizard but I didn't and got one shot.

Overall I enjoyed Gen 2 far more than Gen 1, although I wish I saved some mons for future gens, especially Scyther, Lanturn, and all the mons with cross-gen evolutions (Licky/Pilos/Magmar). Oh well.

Gen 3 time boys.

I've had a really rough time since the last update.

I had an encounter with a Wingull who I outsped on the first turn, making me think I would defeat it on the second. Somehow it outsped me on the second turn however, and killed my starter ;_;

Then I accidentally bumped into a Ninja trainer who had 5 Koffing. One exploded on Boludo, taking him down.

Then in Mt. Chimney, Maxie took down Gussy and Bonita, crippling me severely.

Now it's time to take on Flanneary. Hopefully it goes well ;_;

I had a rule that dead Pokemon stay dead across all games, so to make my runs more autistically difficult, I set the end on Red.

I think most people consider E4 the end though, since that's when you get in the hall of fame.

I'm curious what people think of us going after the legendaries here. I know they're usually off limits in a Nuzlocke, but we also wanted to do things that were exciting rather than just IMMEDIATELY go back and fight the Elite Four again. That seems like it would feel stale.

I've actually seen most people ending on Red - which is why, despite loving gen 2 and HGSS, I haven't done a Nuzlocke of those yet. The entire back half just looks like a SLOG. Then again, extra chances to catch pokemon, a bunch of interesting gym leader fights without much in between them... There's an argument to be made that the Kanto section boils down to my favorite parts of a Nuzlocke while cutting out a lot of filler.

Yeah, it's Moltres. Articuno already claimed Barb's fire dog Legger, lord rest his soul, so I don't put it past it to surprise crit someone into the shadow realm while I'm chucking balls at it.
As for what you guys are doing with Virizion and Terrakion, well, normally I'd be a mite put off, but you DID already wipe once, plus the whole video series thing, so it's the best alternative pacing-wise to just grinding off-screen and throwing yourselves at the League with less items this time. I'll personally give it a pass.

We did it.
Red is no more.
Really been feeling the fatigue hit me, so I ended up just pumping :-P full of the Rare Candies I had been collecting and just threw myself at Red in hope that we'd succeed. Thankfully, with a bountiful stock of X items, we managed to show that idiot nerd Red who really is the boss around here. Yeah, it's a little cheap to use X items but a) it's a little cheap to have a team in the mid 80s that immediately follow a battle in the late 50s b) there's nothing in my rules forbidding X items and c) eat my ass :^)
Now it's time to move on to Soul Silver and to tell the nuzlocke fatigue to shove it, Gen 5 is right around the corner after all

Watson was destroyed.

While grinding Pollo died to a random Doduo because I wasn't paying attention. Other than that, everything went smooth.

Pomi was great in surviving Voltorb's Self-Destruct, while Polvo's Mach Punch made quick work of the Steel types.

Started off with a Cloyster, not a mon I personally like but okay. Blue wasn't too hard in the first two fights, I caught a Poliwhirl early on, and Brock was also easy. His ace was also a Poliwhirl, but Cloyster's Clamp just destroyed it. I'm having a hard time catching Pokemon though, all of the mons I found so far besides Poliwhirl couldn't be caught, and I had very few balls left to do anything else. Hopefully it gets better from there. Or not.

Oh boy, randomized runs are kind of a pain at the beginning. Any wild Pokemon can easily wipe you, and they're super hard to catch.

Went from 1 death to 6 in just two badges.

Maxie was way too strong for what Pokemon he had, while Flannery's Overheat and Slam just wrecked my team.

I tried to paralyze Norman's Slakings but instead Gussy got one shot, I then used Pomi to resist its attacks while I lowered their Special Defense with Fake Tears, but he crit and I went down.

Seems kinda cheap. Overleveling is the easy way.
I always use a level cap, so that basically forces me to fight the gym leaders in order from weakest to strongest.

I've resigned myself to at least one death per gym from now on. ;_;

I grinded Nube the Swablu to 33, thinking that's when it evolved (since Winona has a level 33 Altaria), but had forgotten gym leaders usually have hacked evolutions, and thus boxed Nube since even at level 33 it would be useless against Winona.

Winona's Altaria gave me a bit of trouble, despite confusing it, it still nearly killed Rebote. Knowing that Altaria had Earthquake, I thought Espina might be good enough to live through it and hopefully get a crit on Slash, sadly it didn't and got killed by Dragonbreath. In the end it died to a Mach Punch, but damn Espina's death hurts since I used Dig TM on it.

I guess I had an epiphany as I was grinding with Magcargo: Hoenn is full of WATER.

I boxed that mon right up, such a pain to use, and dies to anything that breathes on it.

While grinding I had a little accident with Nube, and it died to a fucking Sharpedo. R.I.P.

Oh yeah, Liza and Tate were super easy thanks to Fantasma. Also started training a Donphan since it might prove useful against Steven, and is overall a beast.

Right now. There's no downside.

I think Crobat has the same moveset as Golbat, so if I were you, I'd ride that bike and evolve it right away.

As for Gallade, probably at level 25, so it learns Swords Dance, or if you don't care for boost moves, then 31 for Psycho Cut.

got absolutely boned by Liz during the capture, leech seed + sleep + growth got me good
got Geode Dude with a similar combo
went up against Burgh pretty confident with level 22 Chili, got sand-blasted by Dwebble and crit-cut to death by Leavanny for my cockiness

I was wiped...

Ballena died to Drake's Salamance. Magneto died to the Ghost bitch. Armaldo barely lived through one of Polvo's Sky Uppercut, then one shot it with Aerial Ace. Pelota died to Skarmory. Fantasma confused Metagross but died.

In the end it all came down to Metagross and Orejas the Donphan. I could've won if I hadn't run out of Earthquake PP. I forgot to use Elixir/Ether before the battle.

Fuck my life.
