>golett>cubone>wormadam sandy>torterra>camerupt>maybe sandygast, which is technically made of shells and rocks -- perhaps it could be ghost/water idkI suppose if you were making a general "mineral type" then anything would fit, but you can't anyway deny that there's a conceptual and character difference between rock and ground pokemon. Calling everything "mineral" or "earth" type undercuts the purity of the "rock" or (less impactful) "ground" essence. Maybe Crust type? I kind of agree with you but it's hard to imagine eg Hippowdon's power being clarified by this renaming.
