>>40010817The Adventures manga rendition is pretty well done. He's basically sick of how people are imperfect and can't appreciate the universe. He triumphs over others by exploiting their flaws, whether they're lacking in willpower, outwitting them in knowledge, or having them succumb to their emotions, which is why he thinks that humanity is unfit for the universe, so he wants to remake the universe (Japanese wordplay here, where the word "universe" is more like "time-space", which is why he's trying to unite the powers of time and space).
Bonus props to the manga for having the protagonists actually challenge his philosophies rather than them just trying to outmuscle him.
