Scizor wasn't a bad design, I'll give you that. He might even be cool, I'll give you that.

But, Scyther is a better and superior design between the two. So, going from Scyther to Scizor is moving backwards. Hence, the problem.

They probably should have just left based Scyther alone, and made Scizor It's own unaffiliated pokemon.

He's totally different feel. Scizor is more of a hero type, he's one of the few evolutions that calm down rather than get more intense. I could easily imagine a toku style Scizor Rider show since elements of Scizor would be perfect for a rider costume. Scyther has more of a monster of the week feel
