Irrelevant. trading and transferring has always been an essential part of Pokémon (see alakazam and machamp). The idea that you could bring your emerald starter Blaziken all the way with you to Ultra Sun was an amazing feature, and completing the national dex in Y was awesome. This franchise is OVER.

I didn't give a shit about the dexit stuff since the start and more and more has come up to make me even more sure of that decision. I'm gonna enjoy trying to fill out this regional dex more than any of the past ones and won't feel like I'm missing shit for once.

Honestly, I imagine this is also pretty appealing to a lot of the normalfags that got brought into Pokemon Go and LGPE. Gives them the sense that this is a fresh start to the series and they don't need to go and play the old games to fully enjoy these ones.
