the last 3 years of Pokemon has felt like a huge gamble, between replacing gym leaders with trials, changing the animation style of the anime, reboot/alternate-universe movies, and now removing pokemon from the games completely, Pokemon is getting weirdly experimental after having a relatively spotless 20-year streak of consistency
