He developed as a character through the Indigo Plateau, the Silver Conference, the Evergrande Conference, and the Lily of the Valley Conference.
Then he got a character reset in B&W and from there he was a static character through the end of X&Y.
Then they fucking reset him again and made him a flat one dimensional character for the entirety of S&M.
It's not that I wanted Ash to win in a different way. It's that I wanted a different Ash to win. I'm not terribly concerned about this Ash winning or losing, but I don't like that people are equating Alola Ash winning to being the fulfillment of Kanto, Johto, or Sinnoh Ash's dreams - they're different people, not in that he's grown, but in that he's just a caricature of his old self.
So yeah, great for Alola Ash that he won, but he's not the Ash that I watched grow up.
