gen 3 was such a breath of new air: fast, vibrant, full of life
gen 4 was a jump with the wifi era, god, what a time to play pokemon ( ̶S̶L̶O̶W̶ ̶A̶S̶ ̶F̶U̶C̶K̶)
gen 5 was weird, in a good way. in some ways, it felt like it was a whole different console of the last generation
gen 6 was a necessary sacrifice, at some point we had to jump to 3d, was a good jump? debatable.
>tfw no 3rd version of 6th gengen 7 improved a lot of stuff from gen 6, and i mean A LOT. many people hated it, but time will give gen 7 the love that deserves.
now, for the S tier, of course heartgold/soul silver would make it

both platinum and emerald fixed the mistakes that made their versions not to be in the S tier, we're talking about nearly perfection.
Black2/white2 were fast, entertaining and overall very enjoyable, atributes that one would like to find in a pokemon game
and finally crystal, i know for some people the first 2 gens are almost unplayable by today's standards, but crystal was almost a mystical experience, one you would remember from a dream you had years ago.
