Ice sliding/block puzzles are annoying but a refreshing change of pace in the normal Pokemon mechanics of just plain exploration and battling. It's the other side of Pokemon's gameplay, reminiscent of Satoshi Tajiri's earlier work Mendel Palace.

I couldn't beat Silver as a kid because of that puzzle and lost all interest in pokemon for years because of it.

It's kinda sad that the only overworld puzzles pokemon ever gets are Ice mazes, strength puzzles, and the very rare strong current maze. Warp Tile/Spin Tile puzzles that aren't in gyms are always saved for evil team bases, with rare exceptions like Fuego Ironworks. All the good shit is saved for gyms.

The only areas that really shake stuff up are Ilex Forest's Farfetch'd Puzzle, New Mauville's door puzzle and the Pokeball Factory's Conveyor Belt puzzle, which is during a team flare invasion so that might as well be an evil team bases. The only other thing is straight up mazes.

i agree. i did like the seafoam islands puzzle and the ice cave basement puzzle. the annoying thing is wild encounters make the puzzle feel like a grind.

I can't believe I never realized that the Rocket Game Corner theme is a partial remix of Mendel Palace.
Also, I agree with you on ice puzzles. It'd be nice if the game had more overworld puzzles rather than relying so heavily on HM techniques all the time.

Meh I don't want more of that shit, once you've seen once ice/strenght/current puzzle you've seen them all.
Also caves kinda suck at the end of the day, they're all samey looking and they make you hate pokémon encounters, which are like the main selling point of the game, since every single tile is a "grass" tile and the pool of pokémon you can find is quite limited and kinda always the same for some reason.

I'm not saying I don't want more big caves or puzzles, I'm just saying the old "kino soul" ones aren't that good and GF should improve on them in terms of variety, also try somehow to separate the puzzle from pokémon encounters, maybe by having overwolrd pokémon, I haven't played Let's go poopoo so I don't know if that fixed the caves there.
