The "he should have won earlier" aspect is not because people necessarily wanted him to win earlier, but because many of those earlier seasons just had a better final tournament. Ash winning Johto would have been immensly satisfying, with him beating Gary in a 6v6 and he had a great team, carefully put together with many old favourites like Squirtle, Charizard or Muk coming back. Sinnoh would have been a great win, with a great battle against Paul and Ash arguably having his strongest team ever. Kalos also would have been very satisfiyng for similar reasons.
What exactly is satisfying about the way Ash won Alola outside the novelity of him finally winning?
