I found it to be a very easy game. It also felt shorter in comparison to prior games. Otherwise it was harmless enough. I prefer it over SM.

Annoying side characters
Unfinished
Easy even for Pokemon standards (lots of free mons/megas, exp share, lots of enemies with incomplete movesets, free heals, only the magikarp trainer and champion have six mons)

Aside from the friend brigade being somewhat annoying, I find XY to be some of the better Pokemon games. Were I to improve it, I'd just boost Gym difficulty to be on par with the generic trainers, make the interactions with Shauna et al. optional, and probably a mod for custom Friend Safaris for the rare time I engage in postgame faggotry.

Greninja carried the game for me. Solid 7/10 game. If it weren't for Greninja, it would have been a 4/10

Aside from the general "it's the first version of a generation" problems, it has an abnormally large amount of cut content and moreover, it taught GF that they can get away with low quality efforts.

Empty region. I didn't mind the designs and its lore but it has little to do in it. After Platinum, HGSS and BW2 it was a big letdown. Not bad per se, just forgettable.

Killed the Hoenn Remake's Battle Frontier for another Battle Tower clone.
Scrapped event areas because while developing the game Masuda realized that just giving away the Mythical pokemons through Gamestops has the same end effect (a new mon released) but with 0 effort to tie it in the lore of the region/generation.
Denied Zygarde his game because they had to rush out a new gen for the 20th anniversary of Pokemon
Scrapped the Alien Plot for Cyrus 2: Nuclear Holo-caust Boogaloo
