As soon as I realized it was a glorified advertizing for the games and they were never going to tie any loose ends and Ash was never going to see any of the human or Pokemon characters he promised to meet again I stopped watching it, plus at that moment I was in my teenage years and felt I was too old for that kind of show.
I don't really understand how can anons here keep watching the ashnime religiously if it's the most simplistic show ever with no character development and barely any plot progression.
