Encountering a wild Tropius or fighting one in Fortree Gym in Sapphire as a child would absolutely exclude it from being forgettable in my eyes. The thing's huge and had a deep, loud cry. If not for the poor stats and moveset, I almost definitely would've used one every time I started a new run for anything but HMslavery. It still lists very highly among my favorites even today.

For a Pokemon to be forgettable it has to hit that sweet spot of

The reason a lot of gen 2 pokemon are 'forgettable' is because G/S/C actually hid them in the back, in seldom checked areas in the postgame. Houndour, Magcargo, Murkrow, Chinchou, Skarmory... pretty sure all these Pokemon were barely used and only found in specific spots towards the end of the game.

Tropius isn't that forgettable since a notably difficult gym leader has one and they are pretty common on a required route. Game Freak certainly has forgetten about it, though.

Forgotten under what pretenses? Because Tropius are talked about a lot on here. I only know this because they're my favorite Pokemon, so I'm more attuned to posts that include them, and there've been many.
