>>40052616>It was too much vanilla compared to the uniquess gimmick of HoennSinnoh and Hoenn have the same amount of biomes though. The only difference is one has 40% of the map made up of water with the only encounters being Tentacool and Wingull wheras the other doesn't have this.
>and the thematic focus of UnovaThere's nothing thematic in a desert right next to two massive cities or one half of the region arbitrarily locked as post game.
>Nigga please, Emerald it was better in almost every wayEmerald only had the Battle Frontier as it's new addition, and that too was inferior to the one in Platinum which has better aesthetics, better music, better facilities and an amazing battle theme along with so much other post game stuff.
>Name some of them. Almost all the evolutions from other generations sans few were botchedTangrowth, Yanmega, Togekiss, Mamoswine, Honchkrow, Magnezone, Mismagius, Porygon Z, Weavile, Froslass, Dusknoir, Roserade, Probopass Gliscor. All of these pokemon respect the original concept and build on it in really interesting and unexpected ways (Piloswine turning into a Mamoth, Murkrow turning into a mafia boss, Porygon Z essentially being a glitch, Misdreavus turning into a mage witch, Togetic turing into something actually good)
>But still confirm my idea that the greatest weaknes of GEN 4 is how it played safe. Aside the types stats swtich, it didnt really add nothing of interesting compared to gen 3 and 5. This caused the game to be very balanced and fun in multiplayer, but less memorable in the long runBut there's nothing wrong with creating a balanced game that focuses not on improving old stuff, when Game Freak has proven time and again that they fail at doing risky or new things. I'm not saying they should keep on rehashing the same game and not do anything risky, but a game that focuses more on improving and adding features to make the experience better isn't bad.
