I quite liked those movies for how there are some actual stakes involving truly powerful Pokemon. They are gods but you can also catch them and have them battle each other or other copies of themselves within the games (or worse yet you can beat these gods with just regular Pokemon), which is far more absurd than humans attempting to kill them or capture them but need ridiculous anime devices to do it.

I hate how often the movies have made up tech that can soundly defeat legendaries. Like, if you had shit that broken at your disposal why do you even need Pokemon anymore? Even Detective Pikachu did this, with those electric balls that captured Mewtwo easily.

Why is shaymin even a mythical again? All of the other mythicals at least seems like they could be a super elusive type of pokemon. The movie shows plenty of shaymin, and people seem to at least know that they’re a thing. They even have a flower associated with them, and a known migration route.
