Frankly we're lucky they even cast shadows at this point. How great would a game be where Pokemon battling actually looked like the Pokemon were battling, and didn't basically amount to the text at the bottom of the screen telling you they were?

No game ever made before has the level of interaction and sheer number of unique monsters with unique animations, enviroment animations, interaction of enviroment to monsters, free movement range and more in the history of gaming. Even franchises with significantly higher budget than any Nintendo game has never tried to do something of that form because it would be a hellishly difficult and long development cycle with no guarantee of comparable profit as if they had made another normal JRPG.

You're dreaming of a game that will never, ever, ever exist. Because there is nobody in the world with money and time that would ever okay a project of that form. "Super huge Pokemon game with REAL INTERACTION of enviroment and open world and shyieeaaaat" would only ever happen if it only had like, 40 monsters in the entire thing.

I have no idea what it is you're trying to say, and clearly neither do you. Fucking Skyrim has all the things you just listed. If you think that in order to exist in an environment, something needs specific animations for every single possible situation, you might have legitimate brain damage. Displacing water like in >>40072060 >>40075029 is a part of the water engine, not the model. Existing on an uneven surface is part of the pathfinding. And still using Pokken as an example, that doesn't have unique interactions to specific attacks, just attack and hit animations. Stop talking shit like you actually know anything about what you're saying.

Skyrim does not fucking have 900 unique monsters that feature nearly 900 unique character rigs and animations nor 800+ different attack techniques that would require unique effects and animations for each to actualy look good in a non-turn-based-battle RPG presentation style. Fuck, Skyrim doesn't even have 100 unique rigs between all of it's monsters and animals and people, since many of them are clearly reused between them.

Plus there's things to do there (Feebas hunting, Weather institute plot, northern section to explore,rival battle, several trainers including ones that ambush you and secrect bases). Meanwhile breath of the Kanto would just be trying to find "all the shard pieces and 5 minute-copy paste rooms as its "content".

What's the difference between Growlithe and Arcanine? Pikechu and Raichu? Ponyta and Rapidash?

The starter lines could probably share 1 rig each. Even things like Venusaur's flower petals would be ok, you just don't give them any weight on Bulbasaur's mesh.

Even Unity since 2016 can remap animations for similar rigs, so you can load up a midget with a normal skeleton run animation and it'll JUST WORK.

Fucken bingo, I've cut the number of rigs and animations and shit dow by like 50%.
