After generation I, they should have just released like ~20 new mons every gen and then just made like a bunch of regional forms of the favorite mons from past gens. I think that would have given them a much more manageable workload going forward. If you only have like 200~ base skeletons to work with, and then a couple hundred more that are just tweaks of those, you could actually spend your time making each one look great. But now there's so many mons, many of them just redundant, that it's just not realistic for every single one to look good in 3D animation.
