>>40083375Nah, piracy has it's place if you can't afford it or just don't think it's worth it.
Companies like to pretend otherwise but it's actually free advertising. Most people who can't afford it will buy it when they can so sales aren't affected at all and people who don't want to buy it can be a vehicle for people who do to learn about it - including themselves. Playing it for free may make them realize it's actually worth paying for meaning those people pirating it are a positive.
Indie devs regularly upload their own shit to piracy sites expressly for that purpose. Sites like Bandcamp exist and also make millions of dollars for a reason despite the fact that you can and many people do set "choose your own price" meaning you can literally enter 0. Setting your own locked in price actually hurts you in cases where people like me might want to show up and be "Here, Ridiculon, have 200 dollars for the Rebirth and DLC OSTs even though you only wanted like 7 or 20 on the outer edge.".
Indie devs are even abusing the eShop putting 50 - 95% discounts on games that are 20 or less to begin with leaving them at sometimes literally a cent.
The only companies who need to worry about piracy are people knowing pumping out shit. People who don't will be supported.
As I said previously in
>>40083352 it's brain dead to ask such a question, but not because of the piracy bit. To complain about a game you clearly want to play (and should therefore just pay for since you obviously think it's worth playing) is fucking stupid. I know for a fact the game is not paying as it stands so I'm not going to play it, free or not. They could offer to pay me to play it and I would refuse (well, with the exception of the payment being control of the main series and even then it'd be begrudgingly because I love Pokémon too much to turn down that offer to fix it).
