That's not even getting into the return of Gym rematches from Emerald cleverly because the Pokegear's in-game phone function, multiple new Legendaries to capture that weren't in the original Gen II games, quality of life features with the touch screen, and even a lot more done with schedules and the radio, which help the world feel more alive. They even brought back the Safari Zone and revamped it to catch mostly every Pokemon ever with the right adjustments.
GSC deserve respect, for being the blueprints for HGSS and how they follow up the original first generation of Pokemon with tons of new features and improvements that helped lay the foundation and set the standards for every game after, but they outclass the originals in literally every way just like FRLG, including even letting you unlock the original music. This isn't even an argument.
