Lately /vp/ has stagnated more than usual lately, especially for being close to the launch of a new generation. But a few weeks ago we had a good thread about how pokeballs work with lots of discussion and minimal shitposting. Can we have more like that? Maybe once a week with a different topic, just to spice things up? Feel free to suggest a proper thread title/pasta and future topics.

I guess let's start with badges. Some specific questions to get people thinking: Why do they make a difference to pokemon who'd otherwise disobey? Why do they affect what moves can be used in the field? Do the gym leaders make them or does the league have them manufactured and shipped to gyms? Who designs them? If a gym is under new management does the new leader have the option to change the badge? Now that Alola has a league will they establish gyms or at least have trials also give out badges in addition to z-crystals, and what might those badges look like?
