So it looks like Water in the TCG is now weak to Lightning by default. Relevant for Sobble speculation.
Also Lightning no longer resists Metal.

For several years now ive had this theory about the tcg in relation to mainline games which is that the tcg receives gimmicks ahead of when mainline games receive their next big one. Most likely total horsesht but fun to think about anyway.
So for example Pokepowers translated to abilities, LvX became Mega evolution, BREAK was Z moves, GX is Gigantamax. So what's the V?

Well Metal kind of sucks right now so that could be why. Or maybe they'll do something like Stage 1 has -10 resistance while Stage 2 has -20 resistance.

Looks like Basics are even stronger now. Regirock EX was 180 and Regigas GX was 190, so it looks like the health ceiling for them has gotten quite higher. I originally thought that they were hiding that Zacian and Zamazenta were Stage 1's due to their high HP but I suppose they're basics then.

Interestingly all 5 are legendaries and we know the mascots are V aswell. Are we going back to the EX days where it was just Mewtwo and other legends as big basics for a while? They've got more than enough legends to run this for a few sets but gona be awkard with the video games not having most legendaries in.

That era had exclusively legendaries as the ex cards until they almost ran out and broke the trend with a Chandlure ex iirc. The tag teams featured any pokemon and have stuff like Psyduck

Pokémon cards would look so much better if they all had the black border around them and not just exclusive to Ex’s or gimmicks in that matter. I hope they one day decide to ditch the hideous yellow border.

The word "resistance" is still on the card, so the mechanic isn't gone. Resistance is traditionally only for Pokemon who have an immunity in the games, but at some point they decided to expand the mechanic by giving grass a water resistance and lightning a metal resistance (I think those were the only two, though). Grass resisting water was undone quite a while ago, so they're probably just getting rid of the other for consistancy.

I'm a collectorfag who quit during the SM era because of the ungodly amount of rarity tiers in the TCG made collecting annoying. Any word on what it's looking like this time around? We gonna have like 15 different levels of rare again?

What about the holofoil pattern? I wasn't a fan of the SM wavy holofoil to be frank.
