>>40118925>>40119000Personally I think the writers tried to decrease a bit the bond between Ash and May due to certain "reasons" (we´re talking about 2002-2006 stuff, Pokemon still being young in that time), and some executives just decided change for a new girl (Dawn, Iris, etc.) in the next seasons to promote the games and products. However, some writers managed to keep some things (the shared ribbon, the wooden figure, Iron Tail, etc) about that time. Even the animators are drawing May today. Clearly, this stuff are echoes of AG era.
