Just because it seems good in theory doesn't mean it's good if they implement it poorly. The opposite of this is also true. Also, this is a very small improvement desu. I don't really care that much about a small upgrade, which I expect to begin with, if a ton of content anf feature in the last game were cut for it.

Free camera for the whole world is a god damn necessity, the fact that they are doing it as a gimmick to a single zone is infuriating.
Full scale 3D games with free cameras became a standard around 1997 and 1998.

Changing this formula would pretty much fuck up everything.
But everyfuckingthing else is an open playground where anything can be done, yet all gamefreak ever does is to smack in some random gimmicks that expire rather than figuring out solid gameplay/features worth keeping.
I wouldn't even be surprised to see a game without even the vanilla flavour of battle facilities aka battle tower/maison/tree/train in the future.

Overworld it's the one that needs most changes:
First of all I would improve interactions in it. I would add a physics system that would regulate the whole world, so it isn' actually scripted. I would use an Openworld/Semi-Openworld concept to give the player the possibility to roam around freely and be in control of it experience. As I said I would add free camera, longer draw distance, etc...
It needs to feature secondary quests, with a quest system where you can chose to book one and do it whenever you want while also following the main story in the mean time and explorable area/dungeons. I would add interactions between Pokémon, so that they could fight between each other and use it as a way to fight on of the two Pokémon to catch them when they're weak.
I would add both rideable Pokémon and bikes, player needs to have the possibility to choose.
Pokémon has a lot to give on the openworld structure, it would only benefit from it if done well...

I don't agree. If things stay in this way, they'll be the same repetitive cliché and one it will become outdated and boring and that's when people will move from these games.
It needs to be changed to have new storytelling (without the same evil team cliché and blablabla), new gameplay features, more content and good graphics too...

Only the texutres applied to the models were updated, not the models themselves.
Also I couldn't care less about Megas and have been rejoicing about their removals as well as Z-moves, but it doesn't mean that dynamax and its broken after effects that boosts the stats of both of your mons 3 times in doubles on top of a 100+ BP attack is any better

Maybe, but the type of innovations that I'd like to see are like the Pokemon stadium minigames, those were fun specially with friends, they kinda did that with the mantine surf thing in USMU but that's it, I'd like to see a martial arts minigames for fighting types, a mining one for rock/ground and so on for the rest, the only way you can interact with your mons outside of battles is the feeding/petting thing (I don't remember the name). A Pokemon ranger like features would be nice too, using water Pokemon to put out fires and such. They need to expand the outside of battle interactions
