It's at a peak for collectors if you like hunting alternate arts of the same cards, along with character FAs.
For gameplay, players from earlier eras say it was at its peak for most of the original ex-era (frlg through power keepers) and some points of the dp era (majestic dawn, SP sets).
From first hand experience, the game was fun in the B2W2 (bcr-on) sets, and peaked during the XY sets before BreakPoint. (Personal favorite being Primal Clash-Ancient Origins Every format since Sun/Moon base has been dog shit to play.
Also, ask in the general instead of shitting up the catalog with asinine questions.
