Gen 1 grass was actually good, and ice was outright OP, since all of the types that countered it straight up sucked. Fire in particular was terrible in gen 1.

Grass at least could wreck half of the gyms and Razor Leaf was broken

Bug-type didn't have any good moves at all
and the only bug move worth using is Pin Missile and was best used by Jolteon.

Grass had ground resistance when every physical mon had earthquake, it's just half of them were also half poison so only Eggsector could take advantage of its typing.
