It's not a question of what, but how much. The girl characters just get so much more variety compared to the boys so far. I just want them to add as many options for guys in terms of different-looking hairstyles and clothes as they do for girls.

Women are judged on their looks while men are judged on their competence, there's no reason for men to care so much about clothing.

It may be more limited on principle, sure, but there's still more they could do than they have. They don't even have crew cut or high-and-tight options for the hair. Clothing is more forgivable but it would still be nice to have more than the same five options just in various colors. As people have commonly complained before, most if not all of the options for guys are tight/form-fitting clothes, particularly pants. There's no excuse beyond GF not wanting to model clothes that are bigger than the base body model they've made.

Well, they also want to uphold a certain style. All Pokemon trainers are dressed in sporty or casual, so that cuts down the options even more. If they suddenly let everyone wear baggy clothes, it would change the feel of the world a bunch.

Unironically this, but drop the pronouns, just use neutral pronouns. Sort of like Pokemon Duel (if anyone has even played that), where you don't choose a gender, rather you choose hairstyle and hair color.

It's not like genders in Pokemon mean anything anyways, they're never going to give you an option to date anyone, not even Lillie.

I'd only accept this if they actually let you customise your character before the game starts (choose any skin colour, hair colour, hairstyle, and eye colour).
Saints Row 2/3/4 refer to the player as "they" and nobody ever complained about it.
Though that's because Saints Row has voiced dialogue. Pokemon doesn't, so changing dialogue based on gender is as easy as adding/removing an S.
