Do you guys obsess over Pokemon stats(nature, EV, IV) on your first playthrough? If not, how do you avoid it?

Pokemon is baby easy and you can beat it with literally anything. There's tons of shitty challenge videos on Youtube and Nuzlockes basically exist because people need some challenge

Thanks, anons. Perhaps I thought too far ahead, I didn't even know about IVs until recently.
Piggybacking off this, I'm at the post game and am trying my hand at IV breeding.
I have the everstone and destiny knot but little clues.
From what I got, I just get a ditto and the Pokemon I want with the right nature and x perfect IVs. The everstone goes on the mon and the destiny knot on the ditto. Breed till Pokemon with x+1 perfect IVs. Swap mon with x for mon with x+1. Repeat till 5 or 6 perfect IVs.
Is this right?

Like you, I used to not know a lot about EV and IV.

Unless you REALLY care about competitive, just start by learning about EV guides, IV's are far more time consuming, but are less important. EV's are the ones that end up making a pokemon having like 100 more atk stat.

To be more precise:

REALLY IMPORTANT: Nature and ability, if this is wrong, it makes the pokemon unusable.
Important: EV's, this makes the pokemon good, they can be fixed, but only care about this stat if you're already in the post game, don't ev train during your campaign.
Only for competitive: IV'S this is more about breeding after you know the techniques and indicators, and you want that *perfect* (insert favorite pokemon).

ill catch another (or breed if im far enough in) if the nature is shit, but im usually happy even if the nature is mediocre (like bashful). as for abilities, i just pretend HAs dont exist and evaluate pokemon from there, something like illuminate staryu gets released tho.

this is a really frustrating thing with the games. I want to use the pokemon I use doing through the story also in the postgame facilities and pvp but egg moves & iv's are kinda block the road. gen 7 helps with the iv situation. I've spent way too much breeding good team members for earlier gen games so they stay relevant to the postgame.

Not really, but I use my favorite pokemon from the game's generation only.
Remakes count as the original's gen and cross-gen evos are only ok when the evolution is from that generation (ie. in SoulSilver, Scizor is fine, Mamoswine isn't).
