>>40126173It's always been this way. The community has always been like this since they've been conditioned to it. It's mainly the nostalgia that keeps them from realizing how greedy Pokemon is now. I was willing to put with it, until the dex cut. I cannot see it changing, without drastic measure like someone posting anti-Swsh propaganda targeted at the main driver of sales (Parents buying for kids) or something. I reckon come 3 or 4 generations TPC would've alienated their current fanbase with their current strategy. But honestly, Ishihara is a ridiculously good businessman and has probably foreseen this, and will plan regular 1 year "breaks" (likely aren't breaks for Game Freak, just for the consumers). They have mastered the technique of marketing and know what shiny new features to get people to buy the games. You and I know that they're shallow in reality, but to normies and casuals who only play through the games for the main story it makes no difference to them.
DLC and microtransactions will likely hit come Gen 10. They're already introducing them to the fanbase with preorder bonuses for Sword and Shield. They're also introducing them through Pokemon Masters which isn't as aggressive as a typical Gacha, likely to condition fans to these business techniques. The fact that addicted fans and contrarians are willing to spend their free time to actively contradict people finally having standards is just the cherry on top for Ishihara. He really has struck gold, big time. They would have to mess up big time to throw away the future of success they have with the series. Not to mention how reviewers are basically paid shills at this point, who get blackmailed with no early review copy if they give an honest review of the games. If you really assess the problem, it's really really fucked up how far deep the rabbit hole goes, how greedy TPC is and how it is going under a lot of people's noses. The sad reality is people don't give a crap.
