Well... yeah man the whole fucking game is cutscenes. Not exaggerating you'll probably beat the game in about 25 hours and about 10 of those are all unskippable, trivial, boring as fucking cutscenes.
But the mon pool isn't bad, breeding is alright, trading is alive, and sos'ing is kinda fun.

I play it for shiny hunting only.

At the time, yeah. Yokai Watch 2 outsold ORAS in Japan, and while that's only in Japan, it was the first time Pokemon was beaten at it's own game ever, and it's clear they didn't take it too well.

welcome to the reason why gen 7 is hell in terms of replayability.
honestly having that many cutscenes would be ok if the region was a lot bigger. But alola being so small just makes it a hundred times more distracting than it would have been in probably any other region.

midgame isn't even that bad. why did they feel the need to stuff melemele with so much of this shit?

OP here. I've been playing on and off, but so far I have encountered a total of 34 scripted events .I've just arrived at the second trial, I might be a few numbers off but this shit is uncanny.
