Fuck. The fact that this is true for this franchise makes me angry and sad. The fucking biggest, most profitable franchise in the world, and the fucking games having VOICE ACTING would be a selling point to the sheep that buy them. This is fucking pathetic. The voices would be awful, too. Game Freak doesn't want to put in the effort and budget required even though no matter what they'll always make an absolutely huge profit.

Pokemon doesn't deserve it's success.

Yeah, in the prerendered scenes they showed off. It could very well be that the other 80% of the cutscenes that aren't prerendered just has a generic smiling pixelface like on the overworld

You are retarded. Zelda having voice acting was also a huge thing. It’s always a huge thing when the virtually mute franchise finally decides to give voices to its characters that’s more than just grunts and hmmphs

And they’ll just continue to use the Masters/Spinoff VAs which are better than the Japanese VAs

Not really? You already imagine the characters speaking, having them provide the voices themselves doesn't really add anything. At best they have good voices that line up with or even outmatch what you imagined they would sound like, at worst they sound like total shit. But it doesn't really add anything unless you have no imagination.
