What megas do you hope end up becoming the basis for a new gen evolution? For me, it's Steelix, Mawile, and Sableye. I'd love for Steelix to evolve into diamonds, Mawile to get tall and waifu with the two head mouths, and Sableye.... idk just more gems and the big gem shield?

Megas don't look different enough to be evolutions.

They'd all have to be redesigned completely to work as evolutions. They were designed as "super forms", just the same Pokemon but stronger.

Legendary meant not being able to evolve as well as being unrelated to a non legendary. Same thing with Mythical pokemon. So.... I guess by that logic, Solgaleo, Lunala, Silvally, Naganadel, Melmetal, and their pre-evolutions don't exist?

It was never explicitly stated that legendaries couldn't evolve further, while Mega Evolution was explicitly stated to be a "transformation of Pokemon that were thought to be unable to evolve any further"

If Meowth can have a Gigantamax form and can still evolve whose to say that that they couldn't retcon what Pokémon Mega Evolution was originally intended for. Besides wasn't Mega Evolution originally a thing that only existed in Kalos then come ORAS that all went to shit.

I guess so but most of those Pokémon were never given "legendary" status to begin with (minus Unown). Ditto when put together with another Ditto should be able reproduce. Unown as well. The baby Pokémon make sense since they're actually babies.

If I were ever to make a romhack, I'd definitely turn the non-three-stage and non-legendary megas into regular evos.
Also I'd add babies to connect Pokemon like Plusle and Minun, and completely wipe out Ultra Beasts, the worst idea GF has ever had.

While I do agree with you, it would seem GF doesn't care about actually about giving Pokemon distinct forms anymore. Just look at Sirfetch'd, if you told me it was mega Farfetch'd I wouldn't doubt you. So by current standards, I would say most megas would work as evolutions, even though I don't particularly like Pokemon evolving with little to no substantial changes to the design.

Fuck off, I don't want Mawile to get ruined with a shitty design that doesn't resemble Mawile.
Mega-Mawile is a perfect compromise, it's just Mawile better and not a shitmon.

I'm sad megas are gone because now Sudowoodo might end up being a retarded looking rock instead of what it is.

Some do look like actual evolutions, though. I'd say Mega Mawile would make a fine evolution, as would Mega Houndoom, Mega Manectric, Mega Altaria, Mega Lopunny, and going off Sirfetch'd, Mega Audino.
