The joke is that Sugimori hates Bulbasaur line and after LGPE had Red with Venusaur he made Pokemon Masters with Red and Charizard.
now TPC made a TCG card with Red and Bulbasaur to shit on his fanfiction.

He wasn't the art director for LGPE, and the art director isn't going to dictate what exactly should be in every piece of art.

I can agree with Generations but let's put a full stop to LGPE being canon to anything in the Pokemon Universe other than itself. Especially since according to every other Pokemon game in existence, Red beat Team Rocket and beat Blue to become Champion. Even in the original Yellow.

LGPE doesn't override the Gen1 games' story.
It just confirmed that Red's starter is Bulbasaur, Blue's starter is Charizard and Green went with Squirtle, like in the original Red/Green artworks.

GSC was retconned by HGSS.
First by replacing the female character, then by replacing Red's Espeon with Lapras, which carried over to BW and SM/USUM games.
