>>40159003Oh yeah forgot the anchor existed, still perplexing that Alola has a bunch of no evo Pokemon in it, feels like a lot of shit got cut out on the development floor.
Also given it's three of the same line it really just means 1 since Ludicolo is the only one people would use, if you stat wise went for a different approach and also with different moves you can end up with a completely different Pokemon in spite of the similar typing, the reason why Grass/Ghost is so boring imo is because it's been done several times now and has always been ATK-DEF orientated with HP-SPD avoidance, Decidueye is the closest one to breaking the trend thanks to its high SATK-SDEF stats but its highest stat is still ATK and its worst stat is still SPD.
Looking at Tangela a Grass/Ghost evo would probably be lower HP than Tangrowth but higher SDEF and maybe a bit higher SPD in trade off for some ATK but would still likely fit into the general mold of Grass/Ghost Pokemon.
By contrast look at Ludicolo, balanced stats overall with a preference towards SATK-SDEF, if you made a Grass/Water evolution of Tangela that capitalized on its DEF and bolstered its HP and SPD (particularly the latter) you could have an interesting counter option to Ludicolo, I propose something like;
HP: 90
ATK: 65
DEF: 125
SATK: 100
SDEF: 65
SPD: 90
for one, you end up with a surprisingly fast Grass/Water type, 90 may not be the gatekeeping 100 but it sure beats 70, secondly having one of the weakest stats being SDEF helps differentiate it from Ludicolo who's specialty is SDEF.
