And see Greninja who even got the top 1 in the gen 6 Japan popularity poll, but I'm sure it would be under top 100 after its defeat in Kalos league.
It's not make just advertisement, it's make GOOD advertisement. And you cannot deny they only try to force Kanto in everything even if they had the same relevance as other Pokémon from newer gen. Who's popular? Krabby or Corphish? Guess who will get Galar form.
Damn, even I think they did it with Ash Greninja because someone from TPC was afraid about making a newer Pokémon more popular than Charizard and they were forced to make it lose to destroy all its whole popularity and scrap it two episodes after this
