>>40172298Anime has largely been innovative ever since DP ended. BW is pretty much a return to basics by trying to emulate the original series format, but it didn't work. XY emulated AG while also being more shonen-oriented and higher stakes, but it didn't work. SM tried a more slice-of-life approach with a large ensemble cast and episodic plots, but that didn't work. So now they're going for broke for a fourth time. The upcoming series is focusing on past regions extensively, as well as only two main protagonists (neither of them are female). So it ditches that slow journey mechanic and goes straight for character progression. So like Origins in that sense.
As for the games' generation, I can definitely feel the reveal cycle is different.
This is what we usually get for reveal cycles:
>A small tease at the start of the year by showing off the titles and/or starter Pokemon. We got that for SWSH, but everything diverges from there.
>A tie-in with the upcoming movieThis is usually how past generations got introduced: through a movie debut. AG and DP, with a long drought between releases, were especially infamous for it. BW and SM got a movie reveal on short notice before their reveals. And XY already had a reveal but still tied into the movie. SWSH does not.
>CoroCoro info for April or May of that year We didn't get any CoroCoro info for SWSH until July's CoroCoro.
>E3 A recent trend in past years, E3 is where we get the bulk of the info. However, for SWSH, we got it a week before E3 in a Pokemon Direct, with E3 just being demo-related.
>Summer CoroCoro issues Although we still get news, TPC has their reveals before CC comes out.
>More reveals in shorter periods of times across releaseWe got this for XY and SM, where we had a reveal every 2-4 weeks. SWSH barely has reveals.
>Gamescom, World Championships, Japan ExpoWe get a small bit of info, such as a new Pokemon reveal, in Gens 6 and 7, but SWSH didn't have any new Pokemon.
