at least for me, the main appeal is just the fact that there actually is decent retyping potential for it. i don't actually think it should be added unless they absolutely need to as a balance fixer or something

Loud Slap
Cymbal Crash
Beat Drop
Snare
Percussive Punch

Maybe the type itself has a general chance to cause confusion, and a sound type move used on a sleeping opponent will wake them, a la fire and freezing

To follow on, my other post regarding Normal type special moves:
Plus, some normal special moves to replace them (that are only used by Exploud/Gardevoir/Sylveon anyway):
Power Beam (Hyper Voice stand in)
Mega Blast (goes with Punch/Kick)
Colorless Burst (Boomburst)
Tri Attack (still)
Plain Pulse

You could even use light-based moves as the new normal special attacks, so stuff like Shining Beam, Light Laser, Blinding Blast, etc etc

Hey this one is interesting.

We have crystalline hard and brittle in Rock and Ice types.
Metallic hard and ductile in Steel types.

A gooey, soft and elastic type could fit well with what we already have.

I think the bigger issue is that retconning Normal this hard just to make Sound type a thing is beyond stupid. Not to mention you'd also have to retcon Sound moves that exist in other types as well; also giving an entire type the ability to bypass Substitute is fucking lame.

The issue is that shoehorning Sound from a move type into an actual type completely disregards parsimony (also known as Occam's Razor)

There are other ways to make Sound based mons unique that don't involve gutting how Sound moves have already been implemented in Pokemon.

A lot of punching moves arent fighting moves and a lot of fang moves arent dark type after all even though the base bite and crunch move are. Like Bug buzz might be based around sound in some regard but it's still like an elemental bug infused move in a way something like boomburst just isnt.

I had a dream a fucking while ago, probably during the GBA era, where the new game was called Pokemon Platinum (this was before even DP were announced I think) where they added like 8 new types including Wood, Metal, Hyper, and Geo. I think wood and metal were just stronger grass and steel type, I think the Geo type mon was extremely large, and the Hyper one looked like a mega man boss.

Because Sound as a mechanic would still be present in those moves, which is both confusing and begs the question of why inplementing Sound as a type is even necessary when the existing mechanic is legitimately more interesting.
