and no, it didnt. Showing the very first route in hoenn compared to the 3rd or 4th from Alola is not an equal comparison, and yes I know thats considered "Route 1" However Route 1 in Alola literally covers half of the largest island in the game. To make a truly non-biased comparison you look at the one I provided or look at the first alola route on the post compared to the 2nd hoenn route. Routes in newer games are very straight forward and don't do much to provide the feeling of exploration you could have in older games. Catching a Bagon in Hoenn was much more involved than catching a Jangmo-o. On the example I provided you can see that in order to catch a Barboach you would have to navigate the the pond that is in no way required to navigate to in order to go through the route, whereas in the alolan route all the pokemon that can be found in the route are easily located in the grass, making it much more of banal process replete of excitement or exploration. Its not about the routes design itself, its juts about how you capture the pokemon that live on the route.
